Essay: Causes of Global Warming

Many parts of the world is dangerously affecting due to Global warming. The sea levels are raising and ice in Polar Regions are melting due to global warming. When the level of the sea rises, it causes danger to the people living in the low lying areas. Therefore, people, plants and animals living on the earth would be destroyed because of global warming. When the level of the sea rises, it covers the plants and causes some of them to die. When they die, people and animals lose their main source of food and place to live in. Ecological imbalance would occur. The whole chain will be changed if nothing is done on time to stop global warming from spreading its wings. 1. Burning of fossils fuels is one of the main causes of global warming. To produce electricity from burning of coils and oils enormous amounts of carbon dioxide is emitted. It is estimated that about 40% of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions come from electricity production, and burning coal accounts for 93% of emissions from the electric utility industry. 2. Burning of gasoline for transportation is responsible for global warming. About 33% carbon dioxide is emitted from burning of gasoline. To meet the demand of increasing population growth, it is increasing the using of fossil fuels for transportation and manufacturing. 3. Methane emissions are caused from animals, agriculture such as rice paddies, and from Arctic sea beds. It is another source of greenhouse gas. 4. Deforestation is another cause of global warming. Cutting trees for different reasons, it is decreasing area of tropical forest lands. Forests remove and store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and this deforestation releases large amounts of carbon, as well as reducing the amount of carbon capture on the planet. 5. The using of pesticides and chemical fertilizers has risen dramatically. The high rate of application of nitrogen-rich fertilizers has effects on the heat storage of cropland that is responsible for global warming. 6. Widespread extinction of species is one of the reasons of global warming. According to research published in Nature, by 2050, rising temperatures could lead to the extinction of more than a million species. And because we can’t exist without a diverse population of species on Earth, this is scary news for humans. “Climate change now represents at least as great a threat to the number of species surviving on Earth as habitat-destruction and modification.” Chris Thomas, conservation biologist at the University of Leeds In the end, we must be conscious about the causes and effects of global warming. We must be conscious before doing destructive activities like burning of fossil fuels, burning of gasoline for transportation, cutting down too many trees and using pesticides and chemicals in lands.
