Essay: Global Warming

Introduction: The increase of average temperature of global surface air and oceans is called global warming. In another words, global warming means the climatic change. People pollute the environment and that are the result of global warming. The word global warming is the talk of the issue through the world. Recent report: According to the recent report of the World climate organization, the carbon dioxide has increased in record amount in the atmosphere. This Geneva based UN organization also said that the carbon dioxide gas has increased in dangerous rate in accordance with any years of the last decade. Not only carbon dioxide but also methane and nitrous oxide also increased in dangerously. The organization also said that the temperature in the atmosphere has been increasing due to the uncontrolled activity of people and the increase of using fossil fuels. The temperature in the atmosphere has been increasing since 1750. Recent activity: To reduce global warming The United States have recently made tough rules against additional carbon emissions. According to the commitment in the international climate conference, The Obama administration has published a recommendation saying that 30% carbon emissions is to be reduced by 2030. It is said to control carbon emissions in the domestic coal based power plans. In the meantime, however, influential politicians sat moving against this proposal. However, verification of the critique, Washington will finalize the rules for the coming June 2016. The international community is expected that after the United States, China, India and Brazil as high carbon-emitting countries will take an effective role to reduce global warming. Causes of Global Warming: Many parts of the world is dangerously affecting due to Global warming. The sea levels are raising and ice in Polar Regions are melting due to global warming. When the level of the sea rises, it causes danger to the people living in the low lying areas. Therefore, people, plants and animals living on the earth would be destroyed because of global warming. When the level of the sea rises, it covers the plants and causes some of them to die. When they die, people and animals lose their main source of food and place to live in. Ecological imbalance would occur. The whole chain will be changed if nothing is done on time to stop global warming from spreading its wings. ・Burning of fossils: Burning of fossils fuels is one of the main causes of global warming. To produce electricity from burning of coils and oils enormous amounts of carbon dioxide is emitted. It is estimated that about 40% of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions come from electricity production, and burning coal accounts for 93% of emissions from the electric utility industry. ・Burning of gasoline: Burning of gasoline for transportation is responsible for global warming. About 33% carbon dioxide is emitted from burning of gasoline. To meet the demand of increasing population growth, it is increasing the using of fossil fuels for transportation and manufacturing. ・Methane emissions: Methane emissions are caused from animals, agriculture such as rice paddies, and from Arctic sea beds. It is another source of greenhouse gas. ・Deforestation: Deforestation is another cause of global warming. Cutting trees for different reasons, it is decreasing area of tropical forest lands. Forests remove and store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and this deforestation releases large amounts of carbon, as well as reducing the amount of carbon capture on the planet. ・The using of pesticides and chemical fertilizers: The using of pesticides and chemical fertilizers has risen dramatically. The high rate of application of nitrogen-rich fertilizers has effects on the heat storage of cropland that is responsible for global warming. Effects of Global Warming: The effects of Global warming are very dangerous to us. It can potentially affect every aspect of life on Earth. The increase of temperatures will cause changes in plant and crop life, which can decrease worldwide food supplies. Warmer polar winters will result in melting sea ice that will cause a rise in sea level. Warmer temperatures will also increase evaporation from large water bodies, which in turn will increase cloud formation and rainfall amounts. Other potential effects of global warming include more frequent hurricanes and higher rates of some diseases, such as malaria. ・Rising in sea levels: Rising in sea levels worldwide is the result of global warming. Scientists predict that the increase of sea levels worldwide due to the melting of two massive ice sheets in Antarctica and Greenland, especially on the East coast of the U.S. ・Crop failures: Massive crop failures may happen due to global warming. According to recent research, there is a 90% chance that 3 billion people worldwide will have to choose between moving their families to milder climes and going hungry due to climate change within 100 years. ・Problem in water supply and food production: It is expected that global warming causes most severe impact on water supplies. Reduction of food production, hindrances of economic development and destroying ecosystems would be the dangerous effects of global warming. Guardian has said that Global warming causes 300,000 deaths a year. ・Extinction of species: Widespread extinction of species is one of the reasons of global warming. According to research published in Nature, by 2050, rising temperatures could lead to the extinction of more than a million species. And because we can’t exist without a diverse population of species on Earth, this is scary news for humans. “Climate change now represents at least as great a threat to the number of species surviving on Earth as habitat-destruction and modification.” Chris Thomas, conservation biologist at the University of Leeds Prevention of global warming: It is high time to prevent global warming. Scientists have predicted that what changes will occur in the future and determine how man can slow or stop these changes from taking place. Unfortunately, no one can directly stop the natural contributors to global warming. However, we must take necessary steps to prevent global warming for ensuring our life from any kind of unexpected situation. By taking steps to reduce carbon dioxide, we can help prevent global warming by decreasing the environmentally devastating effects of man-made causes. Conclusion: In the long run, there is no alternative to be conscious about the causes and effects of global warming. We must be conscious before doing destructive activities like burning of fossil fuels, burning of gasoline for transportation, cutting down too many trees and using pesticides and chemicals in lands.
